  1. I can honestly say I never wondered or thought about where our ideas of beauty came from, or why we are so attracted to it.

I don't believe in evolution and that our ancestors loved the teardrop shape of stones even before they could talk, but that is an interesting idea - to say that beauty is not in the eye of the beholder or based on what society tells us is beautiful, but it is based on what our "ancestors" liked millions of years ago.
[That does pose the question of "Where did THEY get their view on beauty?"]

I think it's kind of a random and unnecessary talk. It was entertaining, especially with that "beautiful" artwork going on. [That guy has some skill]. But does it really matter where our desire to have or see beautiful things came from? It doesn't seem like it.

I suppose that from a Christian viewpoint, God created beautiful things for our enjoyment. I feel that humans just always appreciated the things that God made, which are perfect and beautiful.

Also, if you think about it, people often find rare things beautiful. Precious gems and other things like gold and silver are beautiful to us, but would they be beautiful if they were common? Are ordinary rocks beautiful to the average person?
As far as natural talent, people find the extraordinary beautiful. An extra talented musician plays beautiful music.

  2. Beauty is seen in all kinds of ways (music, t.v., a girl, etc.) But truly all things are tinted by sin. So nothing is truly beautiful. What beauty we do see is merely the gift of God.....Nothing we have attained.

  3. Paul, go deeper. Speak to the issue at hand maybe? I know you have more to say. Analyze his argument! :)

  4. Our perception of beauty is very biased by culture, the music we listen to, the T.V. shows we watch, and other things.

I watched a Twilight Zone episode that was called "In the Eye of Beholder". It was about how these different-looking people were beautiful in each others eyes but not the majority's. The majority were used to seeing only people that looked like them, and ergo, the other people looked weird.....the same goes for this topic, though I do not go with the whole evolved perception of beauty. Beauty is influenced.

True Beauty is found in God though. Like I said before: Beauty, in any way that we see it, is a gift of God.

  6. Did anybody recognize that Mr. Robison posted this blog at 5:55 AM? =]

    So, beauty... Hmm…

During Creation, God created the land, the ocean, moon, stars, the sun, and the skies. Then, he created man and woman. When He saw that it was finished, he said it was good. Everything was beautiful in the eyes of God, which is where we see beauty first come about.

So, in that, I feel beauty is only possible through God.

  7. That video was amazing, just saying. Anyway, i thought his "talk" was very random and i would have never thought about any of the things he was discussing.
I think that most people in the world see beauty as what they desire. All people find different things beautiful, like for instance i may say something is beautiful but someone may not agree. I think beauty is whatever we want it to be as long as we make it that way.

  9. Pretty cool. I see beauty as whatever it is, it comes in different kinds, like people think it's completely different than what we think. Beauty is natural to me.
