Violence Spreads over Video
US Investigation Ambassador's Killing
Attack on U.S. Consulate in Libya

I am sure you have heard about these events over the last week, but lets discuss them.  #1.  Do you think that the film is wrong or inappropriate?   #2.  Should something be banned because it offends others?  #3. Where should the line be drawn?  #4. How should the U.S. and other governments respond to the new violence in the Middle East?

  1. So, after doing a YouTube search for this video, I came upon one that seemed like it fit the description. Although, I'm not 100% sure it was the correct one that's been given its 15 minutes of fame, or in this case, 15 minutes of shame. If it is the one that I saw, I thought it was totally harmless. Granted, there are a few degrading things, but nothing to start riots over. If these people feel that we're making fun of them, then they aren't American. And I say that because Americans are constantly being picked on: we're fat, lazy, stupid, and ignorant people. That's just how other "groups" label us, but we don't let that get in our way. What we do is prove them wrong, and I believe that Libya should do the same.

I also would like to point out that the U.S. Government or even Hollywood didn't have any involvment in this video. So, why are innocent, unarmed Americans being killed over something they had no control over? I think the government (in Libya) should take more responsibilty, more control over the situation. As you could see, they had ZERO control over the situation, and I feel if they had, just maybe we could have spared the lives of the four Americans!

If something should be banned because it's "offending", then half of the videos on YouTube or in the theatres wouldn't be aired! People do have the right of speech, but that should be "watered down", or something maybe that could start another riot! I guess the line that should be drawn would be, if this video, movie, or whatever could cause another uproar or whatever along those lines, just shouldn't be published.

I feel that the U.S. should have no involvement in this. Yes, the protestors of Libya killed Americans, but this shouldn't be a war where we spend 10 years and billions of dollars on it. This is the responsibilty of the government in Libya, they need to be the ones to gain control of the madness.

  3. I couldn't fully understand what they were starting these riots over.I do understand them being bad because the U.S. ambassador spoke about allah in a disrespectful way but it was really nothing to start a riot over. And where are the leaders of Libya better yet where is the government of Libya, the people have turned this in to an anarchy. Some one needs to step up and tell these people their actions are wrong , and they need to change their violent ways. I feel if these people are not going to be controlled, or governed they will start another war!

  4. As far as the U.S. getting involved...I don't know if they should get too much involved because they are already burning the American flag, so their probably not going o listen to us anyway. I think the film is wrong because your are disrespecting the religion of those people and some take it very offensively as we can see through those riots. Of course they need to delete/ban the video look at how much turmoil this has caused over clicking upload on a website.

  5. The line needs to be drawn by not saying anything at all he should've kept his mouth closed, and kept doing his job. For Libya they need to learn common sense, and stop doing extra and taking everything to the max! I know their used to doing this when things are not going the way they think it should go.Someone needs to step up and take responsibility for this country, but i can see why no one is eager to do so. Look at what they did to Ghadafi; even though he was a bad leader.

  6. 1. I think the film is fine, there are much worse on the internet.
    2. No. For example, abortion offends many people, but nobody has banned that.
    3. If something gets too out-of-hand, that's different.
    4. I think that the U.S. should not even be concerned about the Middle East. It isn't our country. Instead of focusing on a bunch of lunatics, we should look at problems people in America has.

  7. No, I don't think that things should be banned because they offend other people. If that was the case then everything would be banned! I do think that this is just a touchy subject in general though, so it should have never of been made. People shouldn't make stuff like that because they know that it will cause problems and sometimes stuff like this almost seems intentional so problems can be made. But I don't think that the U.S was really involved in this and it was made a bigger deal than it actually was. No one should have been killed over it. I'm not really sure where the line should be drawn. People take things differently, so you never know who will get offended by what. If something is ever made to intentionally cause trouble or if it is on some kind of topic that just shouldn't be talked about like that, then that could be too far. I don't think that the U.S. should get too involved in the violence. We already cause problems over there, why get mixed into more?

  8. 1. I dont think they should of made any film critizizeing any relgion or anyone because people do get offended and cause voilence. But theres films made all the time offending people, they just over reacted.
    2. I think they should banned that video to ever be shown again, i dont think they should make films that are gonna offend people.
    3. The line should of been drawn before that video was made. They had to of some what new that outcome was gonna be bad.
    4. I dont think the U.S should do anything about it, its not happening here. I know we try to help but where gettin killed cause they got offended, i mean there dumb over there, they shouldnt of got offended over a stupid film! But the U.S isnt gonna leave it alone because we always try to help other states even tho they dont deserve help, they wanna burn our flag, & to me thats disrespect and we should just shot all of them!

  9. It's ridiculous how all americans are being targeted by angry muslims just because of one idiot who decided to make a film knowing that he was going to set off a bunch of people. Yeah pardon the stupid people in the u.s. for making low budget films about muslims buT THERE ARE STUPID PEOPLE EVERYWHERE not JUST IN THE U.S.!!! The guy who came up with the movie and directed it (Sam Bacile) fooled the actors into thinking they were making a movie about finding a comet in the middle of the desert taking place hundreds of years ago. It was Sam who edited the movie and dubbed the actors' lines so that the movie would turn out to be something completely different. Now the actors are receiving death threats thanks to him. Sam himself is hiding because he knows what he did, he knew this movie- if you can even call it that- was going to anger a bunch of radical muslims and make them hate americans even more than they already did. So we can all thank the guy behind the movie for getting the guy from the U.S. embassy killed.

I would definitely be in favor of the dumb movie being banned, but then again we all have freedom of speech. I understand how people of the islamic faith are upset right now because i know i've felt upset before when i've seen movies/tv shows making fun of christianity but that doesn't make it okay for me to go around and burn flags and try to kill people. People are entitled to their opinion and that's that. Anyway, i strongly feel the movie should be banned anyway because it has happened before i mean Stephen King had one of his books banned because all of a sudden stupid teenagers were going around murdering people, but he didn't mean to do that and he's still a great writer.

Where should the line be drawn? I don't know exactly how i'm supposed to answer this question but... I guess he line should be drawn (the movie should be banned) if many people are losing it because they feel offended. It's crazy how a stupid movie can impact so many people in a terrible way.

It think the U.S. did good by apologizing for what happened. For right now i think we should watch out for muslims trying to rebel against us in our own country... We should make it clear that we're not against Islamic faith. Tell the angry people what they want to hear so they can calm down and clear their heads.

  11. Its ashamed how government doesn't know how to control the people.
I don't think they should of filmed this it seems wrong.
I do believe certain things offend others. Yet i don't know about banding the video. I think they might be over reacting. I don't think others religion should be talked about in any bad way what so ever.
Im not so sure on how to respond to this situation but i think they need to control the violence going around in the middle east.

  12. i think thats the problem with society these days, everyone avoids the problem at hand, its time we start stepping on people toes!!!!! oh, and the government is useless, take our troops out and et them kill each other, its not our problem. its time we start focusing on fixing us before we fix others.
