Somalia: A Country Coming Out of Anarchy

Every seen Black Hawk Down?  Yeah... this is where that happened.  So, to stimulate discussion, do you think that it is possible to bring a country back from such a situation?  If so, what needs to be done?

  1. I think it is possible for Somalia to come back. Granted, this could take a long time to be fully restored, but it is still possible. I would have to agree with some of the people in the video, in order for the new government to work, they have to have SOMALIAN leaders. It's ridiculous to have non-Somalian residents governing the country! That would be like the US taking control of Great Britain...it just wouldn't work out, and it's not in Somalia. I would also have to say that the people of Somalia need to pull together and work with the government to improve the country. With no support from the people, this country will just continue to suffer.

  2. i dont think its possible for them to come back because they have lived with out rules for so long. No one can change something over night , but i don't think these Au soldiers can change anything over a long period of time especially not using force that the wrong thing to do.Any thing is possible but it will be a miracle if these Somalians get thee selves together. I think these soldiers should try a new approach and then maybe ill believe it can get better.

  3. I think that they will be able to get it all back together and come back. It will be extremely difficult because like Ashley said it's hard to go from no rules to a government. I agree with Tyler about how they should be Somalians. I would be super upset if someone came from a different country and tried to rule us. They get no respect like that! They need to work together to pull this off. And the soldiers should definitely not use force.

  5. No I don't think that is possible , because once you used to a life with no rules , you going to want to stay living that life with out somebody ruling or having a government ! P.s this is Jordan Griffith

  6. There's no chance that somalia can come back unless the war lords are deported or something along those lines. If they stayed, they could create chaos and unorganization even from within the prisons, or probably break out. without them, their regimes can't organize, making the job of instituting a government much easier.
