  2. I think it is terrible-the conditions those Africans have to live in. And furthermore, I think it is terrible how those technology companies are selfishly using these people as almost free laborers for their own gain. They should supply more money to the miners because it would make it fairer, and I am sure that these companies can afford to pay extra for the sake of those miners. It is not fair that these people have to already live in extreme poverty and to also possible die. There should be like a pact created so that the Africans get better pay for the services that they did not have to give. Also, I think it is so ignorant that the army persecutes their own people for their own gain. It is so selfish and sick! I think that this issue should be thoroughly dealt with. Those stealing soldiers should be removed so that those people can mine and make the little money that they can.

  3. That is a horrible, scary, awful job to have. They can't breathe! That's so scary! Then they get shot if they don't give the soldiers what they want. They need to be paid for this and to be put in better working conditions. Someone needs to find a better way to navigate the mines.

  4. That is very scary. And so obscene. That is not right for them to do that. Especially, to have consequences if they don't give the soldiers what they want. They need to fix this. So the people will be happier and work in better conditions. I agree with Jourdan, that they need to be paid for what they do.

  5. Is really sad to see the conditions that those poor people live in. Is hard for me to understand how can people do that, and what is worse is that they dont pay them for the hard work that they do every day. They might be making money out of that, but they are also killin inocent people, and to me destroying a nation, because the people is going to rebel sooner or later and that's when troubles are going to start.

  6. Obviously, you should be able to see what the dilema is that Mr. Robison wanted us to pick out. It is obvious that the electronic companies in the "rich world" are helping to keep the BCA mines and other mines alike in buisness. So, even if we wanted to stop it, we should know that we are the supporters of it. But, even if we do stop it, we are putting many out of work for food. So, either they work and die many or they don't work and they all die. Either way, this condition in Congo is a mess, and we may have to realize that it could never be undone till the end of times.

  7. Mr Robinson , my computer wont play the video after 3:09 , it's starts to buffer ALOT and it still refuses to play part one or two . But I can still try and give a little comment of this from the comments that I have read and the little 3 minutes that I got to watch . But I feel as if there working habits are bad . If they don't deliver the soldiers then your killed . And they get payed very little I do believe . So far from what I am understanding this has got to be the worst thing possible that we have discussed so far . No one deserves to be treated this way .

  9. I think this is a very sad and horrifyig thing. But i belive it isone of the many things that happen that we are oblivious to. Ans as Jaime pointed out we are the causes for whats going on and now either choice that we make they are going to suffer big time from it. We continue what we do and some will die, or we stop and almost all of them will die. But those soldiers who are killing innocent people are trying to get money for their families too but they are doing it the wrong way! And they should be punished for taking all those innocent lives!

  10. I'm pretty sure everyone agrees that the conditions that the Congolese people are not being treated fairly. They should not have to work in the mines with such harsh conditions.
I think someone needs to come up with a way to make these people's jobs easier and less dangerous. It seems like it shouldn't be too difficult to build some better way of transporting the cassiterite through the jungle. I know it would take time and possibly money, but it's better than making people carry heavy metals all day.

Also, the people work because that's the only thing they can do to earn money, as far as I can understand. But the soldiers steal the cassiterite from the people after it's mined so they don't earn anything. That just seems so wrong. I think something needs to be done about that. The earnings of the Congolese should somehow be raised.

I can see that there are a lot of variables to be considered and I don't really know how to come up with a solution.
But I just feel like something should be done.

  11. This disgusted me. I think it is very wrong and terrible that anyone no matter your social stature has to be treated like that. It is basically like slavery, the way they treat them. Those people in the mines work all day and most of the time don't get paid. It is completly wrong for them to just randomly kill the mine workers, just because they aren't working "hard enough".
The electronic companies that are doing this are complety selfish and unhuman.

  12. Yes we could help stop the problem but unless the other country's join in with us then it wont help. Also i heard a man say that we, the USA, are using this to help re-build the twin towers.
